ตั้งอยู่ริมแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยาฝั่งตะวันตกนอกเกาะเมือง เป็นวัดที่พระเจ้าปราสาททอง กษัตริย์กรุงศรีอยุธยาองค์ที่ 24 ( พ.ศ. 2173-2198) โปรดให้สร้างขึ้นเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2173 ได้ชื่อว่าเป็นวัดที่มีความงดงามมากแห่งหนึ่งในกรุงศรีอยุธยา ริมแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยาฝั่งตะวันตกนอกเกาะเมือง เป็นวัดที่พระเจ้าปราสาททอง กษัตริย์กรุงศรีอยุธยาองค์ที่ 24 ( พ.ศ. 2173-2198) โปรดให้สร้างขึ้นเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2173 ได้ชื่อว่าเป็นโบราณสถานที่มีความงดงามมากแห่งหนึ่ง ความสำคัญอีกประการหนึ่งคือ วัดนี้เป็นที่ฝังพระศพของเจ้าฟ้าธรรมธิเบศร์(เจ้าฟ้ากุ้ง) กวีเอกสมัยอยุธยาตอนปลายกับเจ้าฟ้าสังวาลย์ซึ่งต้องพระราชอาญาโบยจนสิ้นพระชนม์ในรัชสมัยของพระเจ้าอยู่หัวบรมโกศ สิ่งที่น่าชมภายในวัดได้แก่ พระปรางค์ศรีรัตนมหาธาตุ เป็นปรางค์ประธานของวัดตั้งอยู่บนฐานสี่เหลี่ยมจัตุรัสและที่มุมฐานมีปรางค์ทิศประจำอยู่ทั้งสี่มุม การที่สมเด็จพระเจ้าปราสาททองซึ่งเป็นกษัตริย์สมัยอยุธยาตอนปลายทรงสร้างปรางค์ขนาดใหญ่เป็นประธานของวัด เท่ากับเป็นการรื้อฟื้นศิลปะสมัยอยุธยาตอนต้นที่นิยมสร้างปรางค์เป็นประธานของวัด
