The Metal Castle is located on the western side of the ordination hall and was constructed under the royal initiative of King Nangklao. It was built instead of a stupa. This Metal Castle is the third of its kind in the world according to Buddhist history. The first Metal Castle was built by Lady Visakha, the daughter of the wealthy Thananachai in the city of Savatthi during the Buddha's time. It was a two-story castle with 1,000 rooms, topped with a golden spire known as "Mikaramatu Castle." The second Metal Castle was built by King Tuththakamani of Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka, around 382 BE. It was a nine-story castle with 1,000 rooms, each side measuring 100 cubits in width and height, with a roof made of copper plates and walls adorned with precious stones and ivory.

The Metal Castle of Wat Ratchanadda is characterized by Thai architectural style, consisting of three stories with 37 spires, representing the 37 factors of enlightenment. The center of the castle is a hollow channel from the base to the top, with a large tree trunk reaching the pinnacle as the core, featuring a spiral staircase with 67 steps. Construction began in 1851, five years after the establishment of Wat Ratchanadda, but only the core structure was completed by the end of the reign.

โลหะปราสาท ตั้งอยู่ ณ ด้านตะวันตกของพระอุโบสถ ก่อสร้างขึ้นโดยพระราชดำริของพระบาทสมเด็จพระนั่งเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว แทนการสร้างเจดีย์ โลหะปราสาทนี้ สร้างขึ้นตามประวัติพระพุทธศาสนา ถือเป็นโลหะปราสาทองค์ที่ 3 ของโลก โดยโลหะปราสาทหลังแรกนางวิสาขาบุตรีธนัญชัยเศรษฐีแห่งเมืองสาวัตถีสร้างขึ้นในสมัยพุทธกาลโดย เป็นปราสาท 2 ชั้น 1,000 ห้อง ยอดปราสาททำด้วยทองคำ ที่ชื่อว่า "มิคารมาตุปราสาท" ส่วนโลหะปราสาทหลังที่ 2 สร้างโดยพระเจ้าทุฏฐคามณี กษัตริย์แห่งกรุงอนุราธปุระลังกา ในราวปีพุทธศักราช 382 เป็นปราสาท 9 ชั้น 1,000 ห้อง มีความกว้างและความสูงแต่ละด้าน 100 ศอก หลังคามุงด้วยแผ่นทองแดง ผนังเป็นไม้ประดับด้วยหินมีค่าและงาช้าง โลหะปราสาทวัดราชนัดดารามวรวิหาร มีลักษณะศิลปสถาปัตยกรรมไทยเป็นปราสาท 3 ชั้น มียอด 37 ยอด หมายถึงโพธิปักขิยธรรม 37 ประการ กลางปราสาทเป็นช่องกลวงจากฐานตลอดยอด มีซุงต้นใหญ่สูงถึงยอดปราสาทเป็นแกนกลาง เจาะลำต้นตอกเป็นบันไดเวียนขึ้น 67 ขั้น เริ่มก่อสร้างในปี พ.ศ. 2394 นับจากปีที่เริ่มก่อสร้างวัดราชนัดดารามได้ 5 ปี แต่ก่อสร้างสำเร็จเป็นเพียงปราสาทโกลน ก็สิ้นรัชกาล
